Widget Accessibility
convobix is committed to making our chat widget accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. This page describes our accessibility standards and features.
Accessibility Standards
The convobix chat widget is designed to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility guidelines. We conduct regular accessibility audits and address issues promptly. If you encounter an accessibility barrier, please report it to accessibility@convobix.io.
Accessibility Features
Our widget includes: sufficient color contrast ratios (minimum 4.5:1); scalable text that respects browser font size preferences; focus indicators for interactive elements; ARIA labels and roles for screen readers; and support for reduced motion preferences.
Keyboard Navigation
All widget functionality is accessible via keyboard. Tab moves focus between interactive elements. Enter or Space activates buttons. Escape closes the chat window. Arrow keys navigate within lists. The Tab key order follows a logical reading sequence.
Screen Reader Support
The widget uses semantic HTML and ARIA attributes to communicate structure and status to screen readers. New messages are announced via an ARIA live region. Loading states and error messages are announced. The widget has been tested with NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver.
Customization Recommendations
When customizing widget colors, ensure your chosen colors maintain at least 4.5:1 contrast with text. Do not override the focus outline styles as this harms keyboard users. Contact support if you need guidance on accessible color combinations for your brand.
